Telegram: News
Downloaded over 500mn times, Telegram is an instant messaging app that was launched in August 2013. It has been founded by Russian brothers Nikolai and Pavel Durov, the men behind VKontakte (VK), the largest social network in the transcontinental country. Telegram is available for Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Windows NT, macOS and Linux. Though it’s just another messaging app like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, the distinguishing feature of Telegram is its fortress-type security. It claims that the “messages are heavily encrypted and can self-destruct.” It means without being deciphered first, messages sent through this app wouldn’t be visible. Also, through its ‘Secret Chat’ feature, one can put a self-destruct timer on messages and media. Moreover, its end-to-end encryption leaves no mark on Telegram’s servers.
